Dave's Music #54 - Rain

April has really been holding true for the showers cliche around by us, and while rain can be very dreary and disappointing; it's life and we need it as much as a good bowel movement, and sometimes both can feel so refreshing after they are done.

Now "Lorraine" by Les Sampou inspired me to start this playlist as she is singing about rain in all the special days of her life and I'm thankful for the song that was gifted to the blog from David Enge.  He took note that I really don't want money to keep the blog going, but a few songs here or there are appreciated.

The playlist that follows may jump all generations and yet it was not compiled by a search in the library but a simple scrolling back through the new songs added.  I've been importing vinyl so some of the songs will get old if I can find them to put into the list; Boom, thunder, crack... let's get the rain started:

1) Lorraine - Les Sampou

Great slide and guitar picking with a good drop d; it definitely is about rain but her name is Lorraine.

2) Rain is the Sound - Jaspar Lepak

As the raucous song finish, Jaspar gently picks her guitar like the patter of the new refreshing drops on dry grassland.  The song was released in 2017 but was high up in my additions since I'm filling out my library with everything Jaspar has ever released.

3) April Come She Will - Simon & Garfunkel

Yes... I imported the songs from Sounds of Silence recently; and yes while Art sings through the seasons it's the rains that are swelling the streams in April that set the stage.  While I also have this live LP, this is a better one for the blog.  I'll be listening to the vinyl import scratches and all.

4) Safe at Anchor - Kate Wolf

Yes I recently bought this vinyl and needed it in the library.  Storms have rain even if it isn't stated in the song.  Mine song I'm listening to has gentle static that forms rain in the background too.  Got to love the romance of vinyl, or at least I do.

5) Praying for Rain - Michelle Cashman

Michelle will someday be featured in this blog, her approach to rope me in and gently feed me her music in a free download was marketing genius; but without quality music I wouldn't be posting it here.  She would be on my list to fly to Australia just to see her.

6) Caught In The Rain - Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks.

Well another import as I find I might own 5 Vinyls from Dan, so I need to be cautious when I buy the next to make sure I don't already have that LP.  This song comes from "Where's the Money"  (probably another great playlist)

7) Storm of Kisses - Buddy & Julie Miller

The cowboy never knew when to come in out of the rain, but I know when I see a Buddy Miller 2019 release I don't own on Bandcamp Friday to scoop it up.  If you by chance don't know this veteran of Nashville and Emmylou's band, you should.

8) Waiting for the Rain - The Resonant Rogues

My gypsy bloods loves this song... waiting for the rain.

9) This Storm - Catherine MacLellan Tara MacLean

Ok not a lot of rain but there is a storm, and I believe I've been waiting to share this song.  There is no crying in blogging, but if tears are allowed this one is mine.  Just hold on through the storm.

10) Sunshine in the Rain - Songa

My friends from northern Wisconsin can't make you smile in the rain, you should have yourself checked; and a nice place to end this.  It's a fun theme I'm sure I'll revisit it again.

Hope you loved the journey.  You can find and follow us on Facebook  and as always Good Music has NO Expiration Date, so if you are listening to this ten years from now, it still will be awesome music.  If this is a first time visit, check out the index of themes for past Reviews and Playlist editions.
