Dave's Music #73 Mavis Staples & Levon Helm - Carry Me Home

I know I've said my reviews would be from more recents releases, and I've got lucky Mavis Staples put out an old concert she made with Levon, and it's so wonderful.  Of course if you aren't a fan of The Band or say the Last Waltz, you might want to get yourself educated.  The release was recorded live at Levon Helm's studio and it's really a highlight of Mavis, but it's Levon's band at it's finest.  With such a high level artist, the big publications have written about this, and my favorite has been Pitchfork for the historical texture into the timing of Obama being elected.

Of course in the Guardian's review I found out that John Lennon had a big issue with Dylan's "Got to Serve Somebody".  Everyone is right Mavis kills it.

The American Songwriter gave it 4 of 5 stars... I would give it 5 or I wouldn't be sharing it.

Here's the release in Bandcamp... Enjoy

And videos that have been shared from the release.
