Here's the mirrored post from GRFF Songwriter Blog. I would love to add Bandcamp links but none of these artists are out in that platform, when I first posted this but since The Shandies have added their catalog. Baby.
The first week of submission are in the books and when you consider Day 1 highlights and the following below, you can tell it will be difficult on the judges to pick 12 finalists at the end of the month. Today's post also shows that it's about the song more than the video production (though we'll never hold a great video production against you either)
First up is Pat Wiley from Clintonville WI with a beautiful nod to a special throwback lady, Henrietta. Yes this was an MP3 submission and we asked for permission to share it as an audio video.
Next up The Shandies from Springfield MO give you a harmony filled metaphor to a beautiful piece of wood.
UPDATE May 23rd, I was able to buy this sweet song today on Bandcamp:
Dan Modaff from LaCrescent MN shared a song co-written with his wife Jennifer, "Oh You" The video is actually from the local LaCrosse "Dan Berger's Songwriter Corner hosted by Rick Thompson" that is held the second Wednesday of each month at Leo & Leonas. Dan has submitted music in the past as part of a group called Good Enough.
To wrap up our highlights we bring you Dusty James and Abalone Pearl from Missouri with "Here You See Me Standing" a good old sound murder ballad. After we were wow'd by the song we found out it also earned them top finalist in the Great American Song Writing Contest.
You are also welcome to play judge or root for a song that has been submitted. For the songs submitted via a video, we've put them in a playlist for both yours and our reference. We'll put our highlighted videos toward the top.
