DBT #208 Monday Morning Song - Shake and Bake by Kerri Powers

Let's Shake and Bake your morning up, with a great original blues song. I bought this on the last Bandcamp when I was taking it slow and bought only 2 hours of new music.  Besides the drums, this is 100% Kerri, all the way to the bluesy kazoo.  Her original lyrics are absolutely tasty, so I thought I'd share them.

You're crying in your kitchen
In the mood for something sweet
You're crying in your kitchen
About to fix ya somethin' sweet
Ain't no butter in the pantry
Ain't no sugar in your treat

There's cracks in the mixing bowl
There ain't no dry wood for the stove
There's cracks in the mixing bowl
There ain't no dry wood for the stove
Your man, he's gone missing
And your heart has grown cold

No sugar daddy, baby
Is gonna save ya
That man come back around, you know -
It ain't no frosting on your cake
You got so much love
It's all you need to bake

The rain left for sun it left a little somethin' in your cookie jar
The rain left for sun it left a little somethin' in your jar
Don't you save it for the devil
You gotta wish it on a star

No sugar daddy, baby
Is gonna save ya
That man's so bad, you know -
He'd take the pastry off ya plate
You got so much love
It's all you need to bake
You got so much love
It's all you need to bake

Forget about the man and get to your shake and bake

Love the official video, Kerri seems to give you a tour of her humble but very cool house, what no cat?  Love her sense of humor in the video.  There is a live cut of her that I can't embed in this post, boy she a clone of Rory Block.
