DBT #336 Only Remembered

If were expecting Volume Four of the 1975 50th Anniversary, it'll be coming soon.  Playlists and posts are not governed by rules or norms, they are driven by my moods and desires of music inspiration.  You know blues is healing thing and when the current state of our government is driving you crazy; I reach for music for release.  That's what happened when I saw I just imported "Only Remembered" who I have in the library by three artists... oh my truly will Trump be remembered for imprisoning immigrants in Guantanamo?  Sad to even put that in writing, but I think Bill Shute & Lisa Null dedicated their cover to Nixon back in the 80's.
So here's the playlist I'm going to share, and I already know I'm going to add at least one Vinyl Import audio video for you to enjoy.

1) Only Remembered - Finest Kind

Oh my you should really buy this album digitally on Bandcamp.  No I'm not going to add it to YouTube just for the playlist, but I will substitute a song by Bill Shute & Lisa Null because it is at least in my library.

2) Before the Deluge - Joan Baez

I recently added her 1979 "Honest Lullaby" album to the collection and loved her cover of Jackson Browne's infamous song.   In a world of "Dreamers" and "Fools", strive to be a dreamer before the deluge.

3) Just As I Am - Dan Berger

I really wanted to add this song from the local legendary LaCrosse songwriter, who penned a song about his life and who we should remember him who did it his way.  I did find that the songs are kind of mixed up on the cd based on what I imported.  I will re-listen to each song and get the right title to each song, I don't know how I'll reference that in this Discogs release that I added to their library.  It shows that this song is the last and only 2:39 but it's the first song at 5:21.  Clocking in at five minutes, I hope you listen to the whole thing because it's a great story song.

4) My Mother's Hands (Debi Smith & Co.) - The Four Bitchin' Babes

Of course you know many of my playlists give me an opportunity to tie in new music to the library, and yes I added more Babes to the library.  Though this is a great remembrance song fitting to pair with "Daddy's Hands"

5) Prison Trilogy (Billy Rose) - Harpeth Rising

I don't exactly remember why I ran into Harpeth Rising in my library, but when I did my love for their music came rushing back.  I looked up and they have stopped touring, but I did have one more album to buy and I did.  As were are remembering how we treat people, let's pause and give some empathy to our imprisoned community.  (While I shared Joan covering Jackson, here Harpeth Rising is covering Joan.)

Ok I've been sharing the studio versions through the first four songs even though I did see some other videos out there.  When I saw this video with the trio of incredibly talented women, it had to be shared as well as their studio version (available on Bandcamp you could buy it too).  I love Jordana's lead vocal, but those harmonies are so sweet.

6) Theme From Northern Exposure - David Schwartz

Dang, I recently imported a couple songs from this soundtrack.  You hear the first few bars and you are remembering the whole town, Joel and Maggie and their flirting, pompous Maurice, and stopping over to visit Holling at The Brick.  Of course, I am a normal male and absolutely was deep in love with Maggie.  Plus the playlist is pretty heavy in emotions, so a little instrumental is a nice break.

7) The Ballad of Hollis Brown - The Neville Brothers

Dylan wrote of so many characters that we need to remember and how we unfairly treated them.  The Neville Brothers record "Yellow Moon" produced by Daniel Lanois was the impetus for Dylan to hire him to produce "Oh Mercy" one of my favorite albums.

8) The Rearview Mirror - Sometymes Why

Ok I did recently finished buying this album from another favorite trio.  Here's a little Thelma & Louise type of song to remember not to put lipstick on in your rearview mirror.  You get the BC studio track and them live.

9) Only A Pawn In Their Game - Bob Dylan

Yes I've been listening to Bob a little more since the movie, and fitting to the movie we're lucky this video was saved and shared.   Boy have we NOT come very far since 1963 when our politicians now throw "DEI" around like they did the N word in the 60's.

10) The Battle Cry Of Freedom (Rallying Song) - Rhonda Rucker and Sparky Rucker

That song needed to be followed by some Civil War song, and this album is one of the best I own on the subject.

11) Empty Trainload Of Sky - Gillian Welch

There are a few trestle in my past I remember, and yes occasionally I share released within the last year.  Love that the Current shared this great video.

12) Pieces of Asheville - Sage Christie

Sage helps us remember that Asheville is still recovering.

13) Spoon River - Steve Goodman

Steve covered a couple Michael Smith's song, and he takes you back to remember riverboats, the Civil War, calico dresses, and the prose of the Spoon River Anthology.

14) Goodbye Old Desert Rat - Michael Murphy

I remember trips out west when Lori and I were first dating, we saw places old desert rats were still living.

15) Enola Gay - Bruce Utah Phillips

If you aren't feeling nervous about the chaotic leadership currently in Washington, I'm going to guess you already gave up on this playlist before you got to this song.  All I can say, please remember the devastation the Enola Gay was associated with; and the evil the interment camps put on people and citizens of the United States.

Here's a one click playlist in YouTube for you convenience to listen to without reading and clicking.
