DBT #347 Heaven
Of course when you blog themed playlists and a person posts this question in the Vinyl Onion Group on Facebook, you know a post will be coming.
Of course it doesn't hurt that when I searched the word I got nearly 70 songs in my digital library before I ventured out to the vinyl. Then there is the fact that we've been binge watching "The Good Place" so heaven has been on my mind there too. Finally my heart goes out to all the souls in heaven from wars, our orange leader embarrassed our country yesterday taking the side of the all time devil, Putin. Too much hate and greed in this world. So let's pause, pray for peace, and listen to some music.
1) Heaven - Los Lonely Boys
Oh my this a rockin' way to start the playlist.
2) Blueprints for Heaven - Willi Carlisle
Slide into my recent most favorite folk singer as he describes heaven on earth.
3) Gone to Heaven - Chuck Brodsky
Will there be baseball in heaven? Chuck is expecting it.
4) Stairway to Heaven - Rose Reiter
Ok I stayed away from this classic song and Knockin' on Heaven's Door, but then I listened to this awesome cover that just does not have enough recognition. Yes Rose Reiter is a digital friend of mine from MySpace days who isn't releasing music anymore, but as this LinkedIn shows she is a highly successful woman. Enjoy this fan video rather the boring audio one, images from her video Phantoms. Hey maybe do like and subscribe to her maybe she'll put out some new music. Heck I'd take more videos of the old songs too.
5) I'm Going to Heaven - Amigo the Devil
Hang on to your hat, this song is intense.
6) Get Into Heaven - Chicago Farmer
This great song could have been found on YouTube, but I really wanted to share the song I taped at the Bluff View House Concerts. It's a very John Prine type of protest song.
7) Heaven Ain't Going Nowhere - Steve Earle
My nephew is not a Steve Earle fan, he said everything is the same. Oh come on, this song is unique.
8) Diamonds of Heaven - Simone Perrin
Again another artist I miss hearing new music from. Follow this link for a live video of her to let you know who that unique voice and accordion is coming from.
9) Heaven When We're Home - The Wailin Jenny's
Love love love the Jenny's ... and Ruth is having fun with her brother at the beginning of this kind of out of focus video; but I love it since it reminds me we're seeing them again this summer. Row 5 up at the Big Top in Bayfield WI.
10) He Was in Heaven Before He Died - John Prine
Of course John wrote this for his dad, from his "Common Sense" album.
11) Died & Gone To Heaven - Scott Hrabko & The Rabbits
Great song, that's why I love putting these playlists together. I really don't listen to Scott enough.
12) Heaven Only Knows - Emmylou Harris
Of course we need to end a heavenly playlist with a living angel. Love the fan video that was available.
