Many a blog reader might call me lazy because the blog has taken second priority recently to editing and adding videos to the Around Town playlist, harvesting and cooking up three batches of hot sauces (Grampa's Garlic and Cast Orange), and remodeling and redecorating the house including a totally new merch (dining) room for the house concert series. Excuses, excuses, excuses. I haven't stopped buying music, and I'm behind listening to purchases too. Recently I received three vinyls from Blair Borax, yes it's her whole library and I hardly knew her. My wife rolled her eyes and said, another attractive young woman songwriter... ha. (Sorry guys, she just got engaged to a different lucky dog.)
I think what it inspired me was a recommendation from Caitlin Jemma who is a great talent who has played our house concert too. Either way, today I finally put the headphones on and picked her sophomore release "Tender Lately" to listen to first. While I worked on some none music tasks, I was grooving to the sound when I stopped at "Call Me Lazy"... I wasn't recording it for digital listen later but that song needed to be in the library. So I changed direction, recorded it, and updated the Discogs submission that was really incomplete and inaccurate. Now it's not, go review it. (so who's lazy now?)
Ok now the song, here are the lyrics from the liner note picture I loaded to Discogs so you can read along as you listen:
Here's the studio version that got my attention:
A video from her album release with many of the studio musicians on the album.
Strip out a couple instruments:
Finally a solo one... boy I love how expressive her eyes are in this video. This is the video I ended up saving to the playlist associated with Monday Morning Song.
While I have been remiss in adding full album reviews lately, you would not go wrong adding this album to your library; my other favorite songs were "Human to Human" and "Hide The Ammo"
If you say to yourself this is great, but can I listen to more Monday Morning Songs? Sure, click HERE.
