DBT #422 Monday Morning Song - Song for a Winter's Night

As I write this soft snow is falling and the dusk has taken the light.

Gordon's classic song that has some how become a Christmas song,

Wikipedia tells me was written in Cleveland in summer

as he longed to be with his wife

in Canada.

First up fitting with my snow covered picture,

The Pines. Boy I love Benson's voice.  Not from Canada, but close Minnesota.

Then up next The Good Lovelies and they are from Canada.

Their studio version mix is incredible.

And yes I wish I could see them someday ...

It is too bad the two countries don't play nicely

 with musicians crossing the border.

Another set of Canadiens, with the ladies leading this Celtic cover.

I recently ran into it and purchased in BC.

Plus a pretty video

Finally Gordon's second version since he re-recorded it for Gord's Gold,

and he did such an excellent job with the mix.

I do love the bass line and the sleigh bells.

I should go back and listen to the other mix,

of course I have them both.
