Dave's Music #74 GRFF, Discogs, and more

Well you would think with retirement blog posts would be done on time and be long and winding.  Well it's not like I haven't been building my library and working on lists, they just aren't ready.  I've been leading a team of judges and marketing the Great River Folk Fest Songwriting contest that ends May 31st.  The songs have been flying in lately, and we'll have our last highlight come June 1st.  You should definitely go watch the 16 videos I've posted so far.

In fact, I met Brenna Larson who wrote an awesome shoe song that belongs in my Shoe Playlist... maybe the 2nd edition:

I am working on entering my CD's and 45s into my Discogs collection. Oh my it's fun, and it gives me the option to search my vinyl and cds by song title which make my playlist even more eclectic.  I've found holes in my library for different artist that I've bought on the site, and I've put a few vinyls up for sale.  I highly recommend the site, it's free to be a member they make a cut on the sales that happen in the site.

It was really fun to play the 45s, I have a couple stacks not a huge collector of these, and I was surprised at the value that these have to people.

I'm into the B's in the CDs when I ran into a memory.  We saw Suzy Bogguss on the Rio Grande Scene Railroad trip up the mountain.  They take you up, you listen to a concert, and then bring you back.  I'm not sure what's closed them Covid or economics.  Hope they come back.  Suzy circulated through out the train talking and signing cds; it was a great experience.

B's... wow I have a stack of Greg Brown CD's... good stack some rare self released ones too.

Ok how about I tease you with lists I have in progress.

Food?

Beer?

45s - A and B Sides?

Finally even music & friends slip into my project for church.  Mick Kutmas is a friend from Iowa that I've met only in the digital world.  His rendition of "He Knows My Name" I used on Generational High School slide show.  Yes I am an ELCA Christian and was raised Roman Catholic. I'm proud of that, and NOT proud of what Christian has come to mean today.  I love all people and lean left politically when it comes to social issues, being an Accountant by education I've coined the fact I'm a conservative socialist.  Ha.

Plus I've been tending to my garden, but I leave you with this great video Carol Roth with Adventures in Americana sent me, it's short please listen.

Hope you keep following the blog.  You can find and follow us on Facebook  and as always Good Music has NO Expiration Date, so if you are listening to this ten years from now, it still will be awesome music.  If this is a first time visit, check out the index of themes for past Reviews and Playlist editions and for the Reviews alone, click here
