DBT #241 Monday Morning Song - "Come Back Queen" by Nikki Morgan

Yes the first time I met Nikki was at FARM, then the last time I saw Nikki it was at Mile of Music and she told me I'll love the new album she's working on.  If this single is any indication; she's right.  Nikki does share the stage on some Black Opry tours and this song she taps into the hard life of being a women in the music industry while giving it an old fashion country beat.  She can sing us a song, and she's pretty dang good at it.  Since she shared her lyrics in Bandcamp, you can read along as you listen.

Well I'm trying hard to make it
Getting really good at faking
and don't think I can take it anymore.

Yeah all these hesitations
And every reservation
makes me wonder what can shake me anymore

So I try to keep it chuggin
Just to keep that engine running
Because I know I'm going to see the day

All those trenches I've been digging
and Eggplants I've been licking
They're gonna come to see their final day.

Cause I try and I try like I'm just some Comeback Queen
But between you and I, I don't seem to know a thing
But I can sing you a song

So I try to make you see,
Yeah really make you see
All of the bitter pieces of my soul

But when I try to get my nerve up
I slowly start to choke up
And don't think that I want to care at all

But I'll try to chug right through it
And I'll try to show and prove it
Why this is not a talent wasted here

See I'mma give all of the glory
And tell someone my story
And know that what will be will simply be

Cause I try and I try like I'm just some comeback queen
But between you and I, I don't seem to know a thing
But I can sing you a song
I can sing you a song
Yeah, I can sing you a song.
