DBT #292 Dresses Vol. 2

Ever since I published Dresses Volume 1 way back in Edition 33, I started collecting new songs in a Volume 2 playlist.  This week I picked up a 2006 release of Shawn Colvin "These Four Walls" and it had wonderful song "Summer Dress" so I wondered where I was at; and quickly I found I had another ten songs, so here we are and I so love the diversity, and the voices and themes.

1) Lesson's Learned - Little Black Dress

Three local music legends put out a CD back in 2009, and this song written by the three of them Clay Riness, Terry Nirva, and Brett Huus had the line that gave the name of the group.  Nope I don't know if they ever did an album release show.

2) Girlfriend - Shanna in a Dress

Here's the infamous artist with Dress in her band, and in the song she talks about slipping on a dress among many other things to make sure you would know she would be a F__king Perfect Girlfriend.  You know I've met her, and she's right; she's perfect.  I got this live album by being a Patreon of Shanna, but she did release the album on Bandcamp except this song which she says was her first song she ever wrote.  So since any song hers almost works for this list, how about if we use "My Best Friend" is kind of an answer to the song.  If you want the song, join her Patreon page she is definitely worth it.

3) Fabric - Erin Ash Sullivan

I met Erin through the Great River Folk Fest songwriter contest, and this fabric is so full of beautiful images.  It seems I didn't buy this on Bandcamp, luckily it was in YouTube.

4) Stella's Got a New Dress - Bob Gibson

Yes I own SEVEN of Bob's albums, he was such a legend of folk in the 60's and the last release I got of his was from 1995.  This song was found on "Where I'm Bound" by searching my Discogs library.  Note he & song one are the only guys in this playlist, and the song is so gentle and playful.

5) Sunday Dress - Dala

You know I love two women singing together, and this song I got from a 2007 CD and I should get more; this song and their singing is purrfect.

6) Summer Dress - Shawn Colvin

I have to admit when I look at getting a CD I scan the songs to see if any fit into my favorite themes; this song did not disappoint.

7) Stupid White Dress - Michelle Cashman

Added this song to the library 2022, and I've been waiting to share is for while.  Love the passion from this Aussie and it really moves.  She has a nice YouTube channel but it doesn't have this song so it won't be on the playlist at the end.

8) Dress - Taylor Swift

Of course when I saw Taylor had a song "Dress" on Reputation, it immediately went into this playlist.  Oh my some people are whining about her new songs have swear words, back in 2017 she was singing about only buying a dress so her friend could take it off.  Way to go Taylor, you have my attention.  Ha when wouldn't a women with her class not have my attention.  Of course, this song was in my Taylor Swift Song Study as I learned more about her music.

9) Dress Rehearsal Rag - Judy Collins

When I bought "In My Life" album used, I loved it was filled with covers, and this one was written by Leonard Cohen.   The piano player must be tired after this song.

10) Dress Me Up - Sarah Siskind

I bought this 2009 song when it released, why I can't remember; but now I have rediscovered it and it rocks.  Here she is live, but the playlist at the end will have the studio version because of that stupid Kid's setting again.

Here you go a ONE Click YouTube playlist sans Michelle Cashman
