DBT #323 Peace

Tis the season to wish people, "Peace" because frankly they need it.

Now this is NOT a holiday playlist, more of survival playlist.

1) Give Me Love (Give me Peace on Earth) - George Harrison

Yes I watched the documentary on MAX recently, produced by Martin Scorsese.  George was such a good man and friend to so many.

2) I Wish You Peace - The Eagles

Recently I was importing the "One of These Nights" album for my 1975 playlist.  This one is a rare Bernie Leadon written and lead song.  I always thought Bernie was a great part of the early Eagles.

3) Peace - (Siena) Sage Christie

Such a beautiful song from a beautiful voice. (note this song will not be on the YouTube playlist at the end.)

4) Peace in this House - Jessie Buckley

Right yesterday I watched about 4 music videos of Jessie in Wild Rose.  Dang she's such a great actor that she's not going to do a lot of music.  Truly I'd love to meet the her she was in Wild Rose, I'll pass on meeting the nurse from Fargo.

5) Making Peace with John Hartford - McKain Lakey

Not exactly sure why this little song is called that, but it's an interesting tune from a woman I first met at the Great River Folk Fest in 2024.

You are more magical than sunrise in the early winter,
more fascinating than the flicker of a flame burned late at night.
You are a drunken evening dancing with a lovely stranger,
a life I'll be here living.
You're a battle I will fight.

Here's the studio, and the video is from a great looking house concert series.

6) Peace in the Valley - Johnny Cash

Yep I have a few versions of this song in the library, but none better than Johnny's.  Now the video is the song that I'm listening to, without the scratches and pops, but recorded at San Quentin.

7) Peace - Taylor Swift

A legend is followed by tomorrow's legend. Folklore was my first and only Taylor vinyl.  I'd love a few more like that one, maybe a double album of covers??!! Come on Taylor bring some piece of the pie to other songwriters.

8) Peace You Leave - Mick Kutmas

My buddy from Iowa who sent me a home studio recording a while back did not have the recording in either Bandcamp or YouTube, so I added an audio video so he can claim he once followed Taylor Swift, and opened for Sheryl Crow.

9) Peace Be Upon Us - Sheryl Crow

I say this all the time, but I love putting these playlists together because I find music that I don't remember even having.  This song is fun; I'm sure to revisit it again and again.

10) Peace Where I Used To Have None - Mandy Rowden

Some day I plan on seeing this great musician from Texas.

11) Peaceful - Kenny Rankin

Yes I own 7 of Kenny's vinyls, and this one was released in 1972.  Wow I found a video of him playing this solo.  He was such an innovative guitarist as well as a voice that I could never achieve.  I love to keep Kenny's music alive, and there is a Facebook group who does too.

12) Peace in the Valley - Walt Wilkins

Another Texas musician I started following during the pandemic; yes it's the second version of the song but so different than Johnny's.
