DBT #326 Brought to you by W

Maybe this might catch you as lazy, but as I was importing my Christmas gift from the Lichucki's of a wonderful vinyl Tophouse "Campfire Stories" the inspiration light bulb went off.  Today's playlist is brought to you by W!  Of course I was just listening to "Wine of the Weather" by Tophouse.

What I found out was the idea gave me a legitimate excuse to pick some new songs from recent imports and a quick sort I could find some gems that had from 0 to only 3 listens.  I did of course pick a few standard favorites and I kept going and going.  Too many to pick from so I ended up thinking if I do this again I need a standard number, so how about 26 songs because 26 letters in the alphabet.  Nerdy right, but While I had to Weed out a few to keep Within the constraint, but I Was the Winner.

26 songs eh?  So I'm going to cut this short to get it posted in a reasonable time; so you only get the live videos.

1) Wine of the Weather - Tophouse

What started it... usually it's just the boys; and you know I could fit them in for a house concert.

2) Wallflowers - Doug Sahm... hey it's a obscure Dylan tune that Bobby sings on too.

3) When My Ship Comes In - Bob Dylan

I imported "Times are a Changing" and "Highway 62 Revisited" to get in the mood for the movie; this one was a great scene.

4) We Are One - Ladysmith Black - I added a stack of Christmas CD's into Discogs and this Disney cd was in the mix by accident.

5) What a Wonderful World - Kimber Manning

Of course I have at least ten versions of this song in my library, but Kimber's one needed some more love.

6) What Does the Deep Sea Say - Art Thieme

Right I couldn't find this one in YouTube so the playlist gets Doc Watson.

7) What If, No Matter - Tom Paxton

The master of a great political song.

8) What Was it You Wanted - Bob Dylan

I'm listening to the version Bob did on the Shadow Kingdom short film, thus will be in the playlist; of course I highly recommend you watch or buy the music from the film.  He reinvents each song.

9) What We're Giving - Beth Bombara

What keeping it sultry with the W songs... yep.

10) What's Wrong with Me - Hurray for the Riff Raff

I would beg to say nothing, but I am doing a blog post on the letter W.  Well I get to listen to a great band and find this great jam in a van video.

11) What's the Rumpus? - Gaelic Storm

This band always makes me smile and bounce in my chair.  Ha I never thought about what they did with all that energy during covid.

12) Wade in the Water - The Barefoot Movement

Two W's ha.. the BM's really knock this out of the park.

13) Wait Awhile - Don Lange

When I saw Don had a W song from his most recent album that I hadn't listened to enough; it got on the list quickly.  It's a soft gem of a song.

14) Waiting Hare - Buckethead, Serj Tankian & Shana Halligan

This song is in the library because back in my son's college days we shared the iTunes account.  I told him I can afford to pay for his music, don't rip everything off.  Well I get to see them live now, cool he really has a bucket on his head?

15) Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton

Alright finding your sweetie and dance slowly.

16) Woman, Woman - Kenny Rankin

One romantic song followed by another, this is from his 1980 release "After the Roses"  Here's the audio video in case you don't go to the playlist at the end.

17) Woman of My Own Dreams - Jill Barber

Yes, I just might love Jill Barber, especially her voice and writing on the most recent Homemaker album, reviewed on DBT #179.  I didn't realize she is left handed.

18) Woman Of Heart And Mind - Joni Mitchell

Joni's "For the Roses" album was pretty much worn out by my wife and her sister when it was released in 1972, so I got it on a CD too. (Yes I noted roses came up now twice, maybe a playlist along the line.)

19) Witoka Ridgeway - Andy Hughes

The song is on the playlist, but I'll let Andy tell you about the song; he's an awesome dude by the way.

20) We Shall Overcome - Bruce Springsteen

The boss? Yes and you get a live video too.

21) We just disagree - Jimmy Krueger

I have the recording Jim put on his Sweet Salvation album, but how can I not share with you a live recording of him with Dave Mason.  Not sure why the video has the song twice, be forewarned.   I actually have a live bootleg recording of a concert from this duo tour they did.  They hit Jimmy and my hometown of Manitowoc, and somehow it was recorded.  Ha.

22) We Come Up Shining - Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez

You know I love these playlists because it reminds me of album gems I just haven't listened to enough.  Love this cd, "The Trouble with Humans"

23) We Are The Schnapps - The Happy Schnapps Combo

Well Jimmy Krueger in #21 is the leader of this rock polka band from Manitowoc.  Hey it should be the traveling band opening for Charlie Berens, the Manitowoc Minute guy.  The video can't be put in the playlist, but I can put it here:

24) Wayfaring Stranger - Rhiannon Giddens

I have the song by a few artists, this one is so real and haunting.

25) The Way It Is - Front Country

Yes iTunes sorting ignores the "The"... and I while I own and love Bruce Hornsby's song, Front Country's bluegrass version is incredible.  The lead singer, Melody Walker who I've come to know, is up for a songwriting Grammy this year.

26) Wait For Me - Bob Seger

So glad I did this playlist, and yes Bob's three albums in the library need more ear love from me.  This "Face the Promise" was a digital buy though.

Again I'm sorry you didn't get an audio video for each.  26 songs is a playlist takes a lot of editing time, so here is the one click or bounce around Youtube playlist.
