DBT #423 Beatles Covers Volume 2

Well leave it to the American Songwriter post about Ringo thanking Paul for his working habits that made me think it's time that I would put out Volume 2 of my Dave's Dozen Beatle CoversVolume 1 actually was the 15th top all time post of mine back in Nov 2025.  Right if you left it to John and Ringo there just wouldn't be as many albums or songs to cover.

This playlist again strives not to duplicate songs or artists within the list; but of course songs will be repeated between volumes since I own 7 Blackbird covers.  Of course this song list is rich in variety, and a few that might make you think wow.

1) Blackbird - Billy Preston

Of course, the fifith Beatle Billy would give it an R&B groove.

2) Rock & Roll People - Johnny Winter

Ok officially this is a John Lennon cover, but I think that counts, and dang the blog needs a little Johnny's rock and roll sometimes.  (remember if I don't own it; it's not in these playlists)

Dang, I needed to upload this song.  I found him in the last playlist but that person must be doing what I'm doing, only uploading select songs.  Greg's Beatles instrumentals are incredible.

Ok Elton nails this cover.

5) She Said, She Said - Hedge & Donna

This Revolver song is cover on their 1971 album "Evolution"  I do like how the YouTube poster described it:
"This cover stands as an example of the experimental and daring attitude they were facing towards their music at the time. She Said She Said was and remains one of John Lennon's less conventional and notably less commercial compositions for The Beatles ever. The song is great however. Hedge and Donna showed once again great taste in covering it, bringing along a very different and personal approach to it."

From the White Album with a mix that would fit nicely on Sgt. Peppers, John Denver truly embraced it and sure made it sound like his.

Too funny, the only two songs I have from the "I Am Sam (Music from and Inspired By the Motion Picture)" album are Beatles covers; but looking into the album on Discogs "It's ALL Beatles covers".  I'll put it on my wantlist.  I do love this cover.

Pretty eclectic mix of artist, eh?  Bobbie has three Beatle cover songs on this 1968 "Local Gentry" album and for some reason I own one from a purchase a long time ago.  I know have added it to my want list, but album looks like it has some great tunes, including "Peaceful" from Kenny Rankin.

Originally when I owned this song, I did not know it was a Beatles song, and it was one of those songs on a record in London, but not in North America.   I really wish some day I would see the full Canadian band of The Paperboys.  They are so good and where I first discovered Kendal Carson.

Here are my buddies from Connecticut in a wonderful cover of John's song.  Yes it was also written after the breakup, and we're always curious what might have changed with collaboration.

Yes I was lucky to add her debut 1968 album "... I Can Remember Everything" just this year, and it had this wonderful cover on it.  She is a master interpreter of songs.  Wow the second song I needed to add an audio video to YouTube to share it with you.  Just shows are wonderfully rare it is.

12) Rain - Keith Carradine

Fitting I ended both volume one and two with this rare B-Side Beatles song.  It's great a contrast to the Greg Allman cover that ends the first volume.
