DBT #401 Top 20 All Time Posts

Ok while I keep you POSTED so to speak on the most popular editions in the Stats page, I don't normally post the ALL Time Most Popular posts, or make it easily clickable.  (Mainly the later takes a little work and I'm prone to moving on to the next idea.)  Since we hit 400 editions, let's put in the time to say thanks to you all stopping and looking at these posts over the years.  You know my motto, Good Music has NO Expiration Date, so let's go discover some.

The top 20 has a very nice cross section of the blog with a repost from Carsie Blanton, three album reviews, four event reviews, six themed playlists, one Monday Morning Song, a tribute to a local songwriter, and four special collections.  So let's do a count down from number 20:

#355) Preacher & Prophet Dreams

Inspired from watching the Preacher show on Netflix.

Very much a killer Americana album with a throw back sound.

#329) 1975 50th Anniversary Vol. 1

I love this playlist from my Junior year in high school.  Looking forward to a 1976 playlist in a month.

I didn't know this local songwriter until late in his life.  I loved the project of documenting his songs.

#335) 1975 50th Anniversary Vol. 3

Not sure why Volume 1 & 3 got more views, 2 and 4 are jealous and just as good.

#358) Beatles Covers Volume One

Mary McCaslin's covers inspired me to put together a master playlist of all my Beatles covers in the library; not any surprise that this special playlist was and still is popular.  I do like how I used my box set as the post cover art.

#352) Bandcamp Friday March 2025 Highlights

Not sure why this post got more attention than other BC Friday posts, maybe it was timing with some other popular posts at the time.  All I can say is that there is good music in the post.

#366) Wine, It's Time

Inspired by a Lynn Crossett song, but really after so many whiskey & beer playlists, it was time.  Funny how wine ended up the more popular.

#359) Hey Cowboy

It's a very good chance that this great themed playlist rode the wave of people visiting Edition 361 SERFA 2025 our 3rd most popular post.  But come on... it's Cowboys and it really has some rare and obvious songs on it.  It's a hoot too.

Boy I love that our first trip to a Folk Alliance trip is in our top 20.  We then went to SERFA the next two years but we are committed to going to FARM in 2026 when it's in the Twin Cities for the first time that I know of.   We made so many new friends that I've stayed in touch with, and a few have been hosted for dinner, concert or a night's stay.  I don't recommend going to a Folk Alliance conference if you don't want to meet loving and caring people who also play music.

#364) Moccasin Creek Festival 2025

Our third visit to Effingham IL, and the third post about the festival (find 2024 and 2022 here).  All of them were special in their own way, maybe 2025 was special because I highlighted Tay the photographer? Talented of course, but she's cute too.

#40) Meet The Calico Stray

Just the second album review, and wow I still love these sisters.  What a chance find when I searched folk in Bandcamp.  I saw the picture on the top right and said I needed to hear what that's all about.  You do too, so I won't spoil it... just go to the post and enjoy.  Yes this is the oldest post in the top twenty and that shows merit because we have more traffic the past 15 months.

Forward 100 editions to a special deer hunting weekend in Wisconsin when the Driftless Women in Music put on their first show.  I believe they ultimately did three in a row, and it ended last year.  First one was so special and I got a video from each performer.

#362) Up & Out There

I'm not going to by shy about the fact that this is likely the other theme playlist that benefited from traffic around the SERFA Post because it followed it with an inspiration from Airelle Silver.  She and several others from the conference made the playlist as I had just bought their music.  Plus... it really is a great obscure playlist.

#234) MM Song - "Trempealeau Hotel" - David Nash

Both a friend and my favorite bar and restaurant made this Monday Morning Song special, and it did also birth a playlist on Trempealeau songs.

Maybe this playlist gets clicked because when you Google the word garters, corsets, and panties show up.
What the post is really about is the songwriters that didn't make the cut in the Great River Folk Fest contest that I was managing back then.

I have mostly avoided political posts, but if you follow the blog there will be some definite pointed songs to give you a feel of my opinion.  I am a Christian who doesn't believe in many things the Christian Right broadcasts, especially when it comes to immigration.  Here's a playlist to prove that, and I'm proud it's the fourth most popular playlist.

We really loved SERFA in 2025, and while we're not committed yet to going back to Owensboro; I highly recommend it.

This is such a great concept album from Wolf.  Yes the new two spot.

Well this post is by far and away the most popular post in the blog and it's 90% Carsie's words.  Her explanation of the state of music needed to be shared; and I hope this has helped.

Hey as I went to the Carsie post, I found I had done sort of this for the 300th post though it's different in approach because it also has some of my favorite posts too.  Check it our HERE   Plus back then 11 of the Top 20 hadn't been posted yet!

We'll close this highlight reel... right here for now unless I really make a reel about it someday.

HA!
