DBT #392 Rosie
As Veteran's Day approaches, we should never forget the contribution of women contributing to the demise of Nazi Germany. Sadly we may need them again fighting the insane racist fringe group of Republicans today. I have a great Christian hope that this will not be a new American legacy, but the name Rosie is one that has inspired many of song writer. This playlist truly enjoys Rose, Rosie, and Rosemary where the show up in lyrics in my library. It's another eclectic playlist but do you expect anything less?
This is a song that I take pride in covering... such a great song from a legendary album.
Their music can be so raw, put your headphones on.
This is pretty much the same instrumentation but it misses that vacant studio feel.
Loved her early releases and picked up this more country album "Rose of My Heart" recently. Yes rose can be an adjective too.
Here's on theme to a war theme song from some one I added the library back in 2021 in a Various Mix.
Dang when I can get a Mike Munson in the playlist I know it guarantees the eclectic range gets wider; here's a great live cut from a Ed's No Name bar in Mike's hometown Winona MN. Mike rocks this traditional blues song.
Oh My Goodness... a video exists from the back of the room. I truly love when I get to share these:
6) Shosone Rose - Emily Scott Robinson
Another turn to a tune about a native American rose... a tough woman who doesn't put up with shit. If you don't know Emily.. just track her in the blog... she's good. You can find the lyrics of this great song here. I bought the album on Bandcamp before she signed with Oh Boy, and the old stuff disappeared. Boy this song needs a video, it's a premium story probably why she was signed by Oh Boy Records (yes that's John Prine's label)
Thank you YouTube for being there to have a fan like me find a video of Kate from the 80's. Loved Kate's introduction. (maybe that's why sometime I tag the intro at the end of a video to keep it for history)
Bill had such a distinctive voice.
Just like when I shared "Whiskey Before Breakfast" the Lost Nation String Band does not exist on YouTube, so I guess I'm adding it one song or playlist at a time. I was pretty pleased when Warren Nelson actually thanked me for the last post.
Ok it came up in the search and well it's Bob. Now how often do you listen to the WHOLE song? I think an almost 9 minute song legitimizes Taylor Swift releasing her 11 minute version of "All Too Well"
Wolf is a friend and former bandmate of Luke Callen. Long live Von Stomper.
Here he is live and solo:
12) Gypsy Rose - Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer
We lost Dave way too early.
From a recent purchase of his "Waitress" album inspired by the Waitress playlist edition no. 383. Such a storyteller:
Rosie, oh Rosie, tell me who was here last night?
Wasn’t nobody but the preacher man, makin sure I was alright.
Preacher man, oh preacher man, tell me where were you last night?
I was down in the valley a-prayin’ and savin every soul in sight.
Brother dear, now brother dear, tell me what did you see last night?
I saw that handsome preacher, headed up the mountainside.
Preacher man, oh, preacher man, your lies I now see through.
All your words of glory just hide the things you do.
Rosie, oh Rosie, tell me where was your man last night?
The preacher’s been murdered down on the mountainside.
Great live cut too:
I really didn't have much of Neil in the library until I was gifted Marv's records. Classic right?
Love that David Enge gifted me her music.
Ok she also has the most piercing eyes too.
Yes of course we have a ONE-Click YouTube playlist for you.
