I guess it's been a while since I posted Volume One and Two of my favorite subject. Maybe it was our Pastor unique sermon on how the Greek word of "Seen" is critical to the understanding of the story about Zacchaeus. Yes Jesus saw him as a generous man and that was before he even met Jesus; many thought it was that he reformed himself but you need the Greek context of verb. Yikes, yes English grammar is tough enough to understand.
Ok the playlist was made Sunday the day I ran over to the hotel and got a chance to see Payton Eilers for the second time. When I edited this video, I noticed that she quickly did this glance, oh my her eyes and that reflection I just had to use it as the thumbnail. (Yes if you click on the picture it will take you to the video). The first time I saw her was in Nov. 2022 for Driftless Women in Music documented in Edition no. 140. She's a rising young talent, I'm sure to catch more of her gigs. Now we need Broken Wrist Records to put her originals available to stream and buy in Bandcamp.
Then maybe it was a new album I got from Jack Johnson had the song "Windblown Eyes" and it made me wonder if what might be up with my number of Eye songs. Right I did find a lot of new (old to some people) songs to make a new playlist. Here are the first two and a reminder that I don't reuse songs even if some were my all time favorites.
Now let's address this immediately, the list has songs with "Looking" "Watching" and "See" which obviously need eyes to accomplish this feat; so I used them because I wanted them in the playlist. It's not because I don't lack songs with "Eyes" in the title, I have over 100 in my digital library without a search in my Discogs vinyl library. Thus, you know there will be a Volume Four.
When I put it together you'll note Sarah Peacock front and center, why not her album cover "Straight From the Heart" was perfect image for an eyes playlist.
1) Baby Blue Eyes - Sarah Peacock
Sarah was such a great person to host for a house concert.
Just recently picked up this 1979 vinyl in Discogs... yes it's so addictive buying vinyl to fill holes in the library.
4) Were You Watching? - Norah Jones
If Norah was in the room, it would be hard not to watch her. The sound quality of this live video isn't incredible but the visuals of her eyes are so appropriate for this playlist. Of course it was likely thanks to the 2020 pandemic that she recorded and posted it.
5) I'm Looking Through You - Steve Earle
I believe I posted it on Facebook, but I recently curated all my vinyl, cd, and digital songs to find over 90 Beatle song covers. This one is new to the digital library, I never knew Steve had this on the cd I owned.
6) Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) - Willie Nelson
Ok I just bought this wonderful kids cd by Willie and it's not filled with your traditional kid songs.
7) I See You - Ordinary Elephant
Of course I finally add their music to my library and it keeps showing up in playlists. Right that's why I buy music. So lucky to have this video to share too. If you don't start following them after this, where are your tastes in good traditional sounding music?
8) Can You See Me Now - The Waymores
We were lucky to book the Waymores to the Great River Folk Fest. They don't do too much touring together so it's pretty special when you get a chance to see them.
9) I Can See You Aura - Rude Girls
Ok smile even from just reading the title. BTW it's funny and ugly.
10) I Just Can't See for Looking - Paul Cebar
This is from Paul's wonderful acoustic album, "One Little Light On" Wow and I'm lucky to get a video of him doing it live with just a guitar. Lori and I loved how he was described way back in the late 70's "Occasionally Handsome".
11) Beautiful Beautiful Brown Eyes - The Blue Sky Boys
Amazing what YouTube has out there, I figured I would have to upload this one to share it. Such eyes to commit to never getting drunk again.
12) With The Sun In My Eyes - Mary McCaslin
From her rookie vinyl 1969 release "Goodnight Everybody" that I just got in my library. I love rookie vinyls and have started a playlist to share soon.
