DBT #364 Moccasin Creek Festival 2025
Yes here was the preliminary post... I wanted to get this post started and in progress so you all can slowly digest FOUR wonderful days of music. I'm working backwards on editing 80+ videos and posting select ones in Facebook, and all of them in this great YouTube playlist (yes as I add videos the link stays the same) Yes they are also in my Around Town playlist now over 600 strong. When I'm done editing, or when I get bored and need a change, I'll come back and add or finish this post. You might notice many more of the videos are what YouTube calls shorts, basically their TikTok version or IG's reels. Basically vertical and maximum 3 minutes, and not a second longer which I've run into. I've chosen this format more often because it tends to give the channel ten times more views. From an editing perspective it does put more steps into getting it right, using Photoshop, iMovie, and Quicktime. If you ever want to see a step by step lesson, I'll make one but only if someone asks.
So on July 2nd, I finally edited and posted the last of the MCF videos. 80 videos got me 54 memory videos in YouTube at this playlist. Now I would love to have you watch them all and love and follow all the artist. Even me the old fart retired guy finds that daunting, so I'm going to pick my top ten or twelve. I hate to leave any off my favorites list.
1) Meet Tay
Gracious for how unique this is to meet a young energetic and talented photographer who was cool that I snuck her into a few of the videos. After the MCF page shared her name, and she had given me the ok for the snippets she appeared in; here's my first ever photographer appreciation post. I'm sorry that it ended up with my song, but YouTube blocked it two other times for copyright and I was just tired of trying to find a song, so I picked one I owned.
2) Employee of the Month - Charlie Roth with Oliver Steck, The Flyin A's and Paul Kotheimer
One of the last videos I edited and I had totally forgot that I got Oliver "The Energizer Bunny" at his finest.
3) The First Day by Snowbird Street Band
This was our second year seeing this fun duo. Gracious Betsy and Cody are so much fun and energetic... and here's another on that Oliver joined in on.
4) More Sister Sadie...
Yes I'm ready for more. This one was flagged for copyright which as a short it gets blocked, as a video it just gets the copyright owner the royalties. Begs the question, why not that in the shorts too?
5) Kentucky Blue by the Weary Ramblers
I had fun editing the intro as a silent movie filter, and the blue filter for the song. Great new song that will be on the next album that I have already bought and paid for. Love Kathryn and Chad as musicians and people.
6) You're No Good by Sophie and the Saints
This Linda Ronstadt cover I knew wouldn't fly as a short for copyright, so I moved it to a video and it inspired me to do two other comic filters. I would love Sophie to put together a Linda tribute set for next year, maybe acoustic on the Shady Stage; though she really can belt out the rockers like this one.
7) Illegal Man by Peter Keane
Oh this song hit me.
8) My Cat's Birthday by Cheryl Wheeler
Sure she showing her age, but geez I look in the mirror and I do too. She's at least still an ace of a songwriter. Loved this song, but loved her whole set.
9) You're Going to Make Me Lonesome cover by Suzy Bogguss
Leave it to Bill Poss to ask and to get so many artists to do a song from Blood on the Tracks to celebrate it's 50th Anniversary during the festival. Suzy's offering:
10) Working On It by Chicago Farmer
The first time I put the gang in a short, and it has Tay the hard working photographer in the song. Loved the dancers, though it was from a different song. Ha.
11) Whiskey Blue by Chain Station
This was my first time seeing the boys from Colorado.
12) Goodbye Good Looking by Robbie Fulks
It was MCF where I saw Robbie first, and now if I get a chance I try never to miss seeing him.
