On January 13, 2025, Kit Mayer put out an excellent set of 10 original songs; and while I was putting the release into Discogs yesterday I really fell in love with the last song, "Kids" So when I thought about sharing just one song to start your morning, it was the first that came to mind. The song remembers the days of growing up, and it has elements to all of Kit's early influences. It has a harp intro that reminds you of a Springsteen, storytelling like Mark Knopfler, piano riffs that feel like Bob Seeger, and of course the raspy (but clear) vocals like Dylan. Give it a listen, or maybe buy it or request the song next time you see him play in the LaCrosse area.
The story is full of details and all of us who grew up playing music will love to relive the memories that will never rust.
Oh yeah the last time I ran into him it was at "A Complete Unknown" release on Christmas Day... I guess we have the same love of Dylan and music.
If you say to yourself this is great, but can I listen to more Monday Morning Songs? Sure,

I hope this makes the blog a little more accessible, and you get a chance to find music. Remember even if these songs might not have been just released, #MusicHasNoExpirationDate it just sits on the shelf into you discover it, taste it, and fall in love with it.
