DBT #432 Monday Morning Song - Ring Them Bells

Today's Monday Morning Song focuses on six releases
of Bob Dylan's "Ring Them Bells."

Six? Yes I couldn't eliminate any,
plus I have two different Sarah Jarosz' covers;
and I had to pick one.

Bob's original from "Oh Mercy" one of my top Dylan albums,
an 1989 release produced by Daniel Lanlois.
It's piano lead, with a keyboard reverb in the background,
and the reverb is so typical for Daniel to get a spooky sound.

My favorite Blues singer who really only had one release,
I had found her on MySpace, and she became a dear digital friend,
who also just had a birthday yesterday the day after Valentines.

Her more guitar lead version was not anywhere easy to share,
so I remixed some clips of her from her
"I'll Be Satisfied" video and created this:

Keeping it Male / Female / Male / Female,
Sufjan Stevens of course would have the most unique (and longest) cover
from the "I'm Not There" soundtrack.

Maybe why this song came up for posting
was because I added a new cover this week
when I bought a used 1995 Joan Baez appropriately named

Mary Black joins her on this stripped down piano version, and yes
those two ladies are as beautiful as they sing.

So I needed another male voice to maintain the pattern
so I found Matt Epp a Canadian on Bandcamp.

He said he released this a birthday wish to Bob,
and he was the only one who added a harmonica to the song.

Of course, I'm not following him
so we'll see if he shows up in more purchases along the line.

Usually right after Dylan, I think of Sarah Jarosz's version.
Truly she has made it hers and originally released on
"Follow Me Down" in 2011 when she was a ripe age of 20!

My favorite of the two songs in my library though was her solo with her
octave mandolin on an "Americana Sessions
released in 2013. Yes here's the video;
and I dare you not to fall in love with her
gentleness and grace that makes a hymn.
(I so love it has had 1.5 million views)

Of course if you wanted to listen to all uninterupted,

If you like Dylan covers like I do (yes I have 169 songs in a playlist),
I have published three playlists.

All these songs are in our Monday Morning Song YouTube Playlist.
